Night Of Power
By Alun Robert
27th night of Ramazan
worth more than most will know
as she sits alone
in peace
with duas
for sisters in far off lands
facing diaspora
living poverty
trapped in conflict
in hurt and pain
with security dipping as setting sun
beyond the humble touch
for she is blessed
reaps rewards
through good deeds
to enrich her soul
as angels and Spirit descend in peace
with permission of their Lord
until dawn emerges
from Anadolu
another day begins
for mankind to transgress
on frolics
on endeavours
without permission of their Lord
yet she cannot look back
her eyes are closed
she offers up
palms in prayer
that one day peace will transcend before
27th night of Ramazan
in response to “Praying Girl” painted in 1903 by Müfide Kadri (1889-1912)
